Costume Hair Make-up

Due to our plot showing a very formal and grand location, we need the remaining parts of mise en scene to support this

At our location there will already be people within the background wearing smart clothing as this is how the venue is represented (and how we want our characters to appear). Therefore our actors will need to be wearing similar attire.

Female Character - Rachel
Our female character will be (preferably) wearing a long black dress, which connotes class, along with a pair of heels to portray her as somebody who takes care in her appearance and who wants to appear slightly suggestive.

As of yet we are undecided as to whether her hair should be presented up or down. We will do some experimenting once we have chosen who we want to play the character of 'Rachel'.
From looking at the short film 'Never Forget' the female character has her hair down. The women is quite a 'playful' women as we have seen she goes out and has cheated on her partner.
On the other hand, 'Olive' shows a similar setting to what we are using for our short film and the women has her hair neatly put back which looks very formal. I think having her hair up draws more attention to the precise makeup.

For her makeup, I think that wearing a deep red lipstick will suit the image that we want i.e. an upper class women who is very attractive and looks after her appearance.
Marilyn Monroe was seen as a very sexy women and red lipstick was a statement of hers so we will incorporate this.

Male Character 1 - James
James is shown to be the gentleman out of the two male characters in the film. We want him to look smart but not too mature as it needs to fit with our audience and synopsis.

Instead of wearing a black suit which is quite simple we have decided to use a jacket which has more of a pattern to it and of a different material - this makes him look a bit more stylish.

Male Character 2 - Dylan
Current waiters at The Royal Automobile Club wear a white shirt and black trousers, along with smart pair of shoes, preferably black.

We will ask our actor to try and imitate this so that he looks as though he works there. Black and white is very formal and will make him look presentable.

  1. good and shows good anticipation as you know what the waiters wear, should any get caught on screen. If they have uniforms, can you not ask to borrow one?
